For over a century scouting has enhanced the great potential of young people to make a positive impact, both in their own development and to their community.
Scouts is the UK's largest youth movement, helping over 435,000 young people gain skills for life. Based in over 7,000 groups in almost every community, Scouts welcomes young people aged 4-25 of all genders, races and backgrounds. Every week they give them the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.
The outdoors is where Scouts thrive - taking part in activities from kayaking and climbing to archery, diving and even gliding. Not only does Scouts help young people access the outdoors, there are also opportunities for international adventure too, with over 8,000 Scouts travelling overseas last year.
Scouts is only possible thanks to the dedication of over 140,000 volunteers, who deliver the programme and activities, and enjoy the experience alongside the young people they support.
Dwayne Fields, Chief Scout, had a message for our players:
"Scouts only succeeds because of our volunteers, supporters and partners. That's why I'm delighted players of People's Postcode Lottery are supporting us, which means nearly half a million young people are gaining the skills they need to create brighter futures.
Young people need these opportunities for skills, friendship and adventure now more than ever - especially in our most deprived communities.
On behalf of the whole Scout Movement in the UK, thanks to every player of People's Postcode Lottery. You're helping us inspire a new generation of Scouts with skills for life."
